Gift Of Love (November SOS Sketch DT reveal)

Did you see yet the November Sketch challenge reveal over on the Scrap Our Stash blog?

Click HERE for all the details!

Link up before November 28th for a chance to win a collection pack from Echo Park.

What a beautiful sketch Rochelle Spears has designed for the sketch challenge this month! I love those strips of papers layered underneath the photo and the circle outline.

Along with using the sketch as inspiration, the challenge requirements are to create a layout of SOMEONE you are THANKFUL for and include 5 STASH ITEMS on your layout that you are THANKFUL for (most likely your "goto" stash items.

Here's my take...

I used a photo of me with 3 of my favorite people, my boyfriend Yves and our two nieces, Ella and Daphne. Ever since I met Yves more than 8 years ago, I cannot believe how fortunate I am to be loved by him.  Ella and Daphne are 2 beautiful girls who are growing up so fast; they're funny, imaginative and caring.  I am so thankful for all the joy, laughter and love that they each bring to my life.

As far as the stash challenged is concerned, I used the 5 products
that I most often used in my work.

Stencils
I love to dabble in mixed media techniques and stencils are a must-have for any mixed media artist. I most often use mine with molding paste to add elegant and textured designs on my backgrounds.

Mists & Paints
After doing the stenciling, I add colour to my background using mists. Mists are also perfect to turn any embellishment into the perfect colour for your page. And anyone familiar with my work knows how much I love to dab white paint over my layouts to finish it off with a soft whitewash look.

Chipboard
I've been so blessed to be on the amazing 2Crafty Chipboard DT for more than a year now and I get loads of beautiful laser-cut chipboard to create with.  Included on this page are these 2Crafty pieces: Circle Revolution Frame, Element Set 1, Leafy Silhouettes and the French Lace Border.

 Flowers
My favorite style of scrapbooking is shabby chic so obviously, I love to use flowers,
loads of them, of most of my creations. I have to admit that they are also my favorite shopping item :P

Tags
Ever since I discovered tags, I can barely do one page without slipping one in some way, shape or form.

Now, who and what are YOU thankful for?

I can't wait to see!

Sherlock Book Card Set (Meg's Garden DT Project)

It's time once again to share with you a project designed for Meg's Garden.

Last month, I created a Vintage Mini-Album using the Sherlock Book Kit designed by Watson.

Well, this time around, I decided that I would use more papers and trinkets
from the Sherlock Book Kit to create a multi-card set.

As you can see, I created 5 cards, all complementing one another in their design, patterns and colours.

I tried to use several paper patterns from the Sherlock Book kit in order to showcase it all.
Most metal accents were included in the embellishment kit that I received with the kit.
Look at the end of this post for the complete list of products used
that came from the Meg's Garden shop.

Card 1

I decided to use french sentiments on my cards as I'm participating in a craft show in December in my hometown which is mostly French and am hoping that a client will want to give this card set a new home.

Card 2

The Sherlock Book kit papers offer many vintage images that are perfect to add to cards.

Card 3

All the beautiful and colorful paper butterflies used were fussy cut
from the Butterflies ATC paper available at Meg's Garden.

Card 4

I added some handmade stitching to my cards to give them a bit more dimension.
Another way to add dimension is to pop up some parts of the card with 3-D foam dots,
like in this case, the sentiment tag and the fussy cut pocket watch.

Card 5

My favorite part of the Sherlock papers are the tags.
I used 3 of this card and added metal eyelets that matched the Vintage Brass piece.

This was a fairly short post, but I wanted show you how versatile the Sherlock Book Kit is
and let the pictures do the talking.

I hope you've enjoyed my cards
and that you will visit Meg's Garden blog for daily inspiration
from the Design Team using their fabulous line of products.

WonderFall (November 2Crafty DT Reveal Part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of my November 2Crafty DT Reveal!

To create this layout, I was inspired by the November challenge at Once Upon a Sketch
Along with this sketch provided, the journaling theme this month is 'Inspiration'.

I also played along with this beautiful mood board from Tresors de Luxe Challenge on FB.

Now, on to some close-ups of my page and that gorgeous 2Crafty chipboard.

Perfect for any Fall page are the "Maple Leaves" and "Winter Leaves".

I covered my leaves with a little clear gesso, then added different shades of distress stains.  I then followed suit with a few dabs of Autumn colours (orange, red and yellow paints) using a sponge, and then finished off with a few light dabs of white.

As you can see, I dab white paint over pretty much everything! :)

The title was formed by using the word 'wonder' from the newly released "Mini Word Set 1"
and spelling 'fall' with the "Everyday Font L/C" which I both painted with Perfect Pearls.

Another new piece that I love (enough that I ordered it in doubles in my last DT pack)
is the "Hessian Patch Panels".

As with the title, I coated the fancy piece from "Adornment Set 3" with Perfect Pearls
and added it as a side border to this quote card.

Because Once Upon a Sketch challenges are all about sketches AND journaling,
I added my handwritten journaling on a tag that I slipped behind the picture.
It basically describes how much of an inspiration the Fall season is to me...
from the colors of the leaves, the cool crisp air to the desire to stay all warm and comfy, indoors...
the perfect time to scrapbook!

One last look...

Measured in Moments (2Crafty DT Reveal Part 1)

Every time it's my turn to share with you my DT creations
for 2Crafy Chipboard, I get so happy and proud
as 2Crafty chipboard makes every layout or project I create extra special!

You will no doubt recognize the beautiful Somewhere in Time collection from BoBunny.
I matched it with many chipboard pieces to accentuate somewhat grunge, yet romantic, look of my page.

No grunge layout would be complete without now famous cogs and gears.
2Crafty offers many different pieces of this style, including the "Gears" and the "Giant Gears".

A great addition to the gears sets is the "Corner Steampunk 1".
I cut it in two and lined it on the left edge of my page, tucked behind the photo and my flower cluster.
I wanted it to look like old rusted metal so I put on a thick coat of clear gesso, heated it until it bubbled,
then dabbed on distress stains in all the shades of brown that I own, heating between every coat.
I then added a little charcoal grey and copper paint.

And more cogs and gears treated the same way.

Shown below are 2 pieces from the "Keyholes and Locks" set.
They were treated pretty much the same way as the cogs and steampunk corner,
but with a touch of teal blue added on to them.

I cut in half a small clock from the "6 inch Clock Face Frames"
and tucked each piece on either side of my picture.
Then it was time to put the finishing touch with the perfect title.
I chose "Life is Not Measured by Minutes but Moments"
which I cut apart to line it up vertically on the right edge of my layout.

And there you go... a precious moment captured amidst beautiful blue flowers
from BoBunny and Petaloo and loads of 2Crafty chippies!

Now, here's to hoping you'll join me tomorrow for another 2Crafty DT reveal!

Note (November SOS Stash DT Reveal & CS Sketch#281)

Are you ready for my DT take on November Stash Challenge #20 over at Scrap Our Stash?

It's a "Countdown" Stash Challenge!

Create a layout and you must include the specific items and quantities on the list below:
5 ~ Patterned Papers
4 ~ Stickers or Cardstock Stickers
3 ~ Numbers
2 ~ Stamps or Rub ons
1 ~ Paint or mist
- See more at: http://scrapourstash.blogspot.ca/2014/11/november-stash-challenge-20.html#sthash.zdjwE2VL.dpuf
The challenge is to create a layout and include the specific items and quantities on the list below:

5 - Patterned Papers
4 - Stickers or Cardstock Stickers
3 - Numbers
2 - Stamps or Rub-ons
1 - Paint or Mist

Click HERE for the SOS Challenge guidelines
and make sure to link your layout HERE on the SOS sidebar by November 29th
for the chance to win Echo Park "Capture Life" Collection kit.

Now let's see what the countdown has inspired me to create!

I decided to go masculine this month with my layout based on stash challenge #20.
It seemed to go along with the theme also as most little boys love countdowns.
The cutie on the picture is Tristan, my friend's son, when he was a baby.

My page design was inspired by Sketch #281 from Creative Scrappers.

Now let the countdown begin!

 - 5 -
All papers used are from an older Echo Park collection called 'Note to Self'. I actually used 7 different patterns - blue polkadot (background), stripes, red polkadot, numbers, beige grid paper, ivory lined, journaling card.

- 4 -
I added many stickers to my page, 4 of which are the red arrow, the 'Love This' tab,
the circle tag and all cork embellishments are stickers.

- 3 -
There is a whole vertical row of numbers on the right edge.

- 2 -
Because I didn't have any rub-ons that matched the layout, I decided to use 2 different star stamps.

- 1 -
I added red strings of red paint on my background and on some embellishments and I finished off with my signature whitewashing style using a sponge and white acrylic paint.

If you like my Countdown page and would like to play long
with this challenge, visit Scrap Our Stash challenge blog!

You could also combine it with the Creative Scrappers sketch challenge
like I did and have double the inspiration and double the chance of winning!

My Creative Scrapbook November Extras

When I told you that the November Main kit from My Creative Scrapboo
is FULL of little pieces, I wasn't kidding.

It includes:
(lots of papers from the collection, 6x12 sticker sheet, pack of 102 floral ephemera, pack of 81 cards and embellishments, pack of 72 vellum shapes) matched with a pack of Prima flowers and various ribbons.

With over 250 pieces, after having created 5 layouts,
no wonder I had enough to create these extras (and more).

I'm so proud of my tags!  I'm really enjoying using whatever leftover I have from my kits,
or any other collections or products I have, to create tags that I can share with friends.

I also made this cute romantic 'Better Together' card...

and a pretty card for a special friend's birthday 'Wishing You a Happy Heart'.

Well, you've seen what the November Main kit is made of over these last 3 days of sharing,
so if you'd like to try to recreate some of my creations, don't waste any time...
