Remember the Good Times (SOS September Sketch & Stash Challenge)

I'm having such a blast so far on the Scrap Our Stash DT,
playing along with all these fabulous challenges.

The September sketch & stash challenge is now up.
You can find out all the details right HERE.

Keeping on with the school-themed projects this month,
this is an ABC & 123 Challenge.

In addition to using the sketch as inspiration,
you are required to add the following stash items on your layout:
 1 journal card
2 photos
3 patterned paper

... as well as an item from your stash that starts with each of the letters A, B and C.

As you can see, I used, as required, 1 journalling card, 2 pictures of my pretty niece Daphne and 3 patterned papers (well, 4) that are all from the Echo Park For the Record 2 collection.

I added an Arrow, Buttons, Brads and a Butterfly as well as Chipboard.

Now let the close-ups speak for themselves...

Thanks for dropping by today!

Home Canvas Set (Meg's Garden DT Reveal)

It's already time for my 2nd DT reveal for Meg's Garden.

How fast time flies!

I am sharing with you today a canvas set that I created as a special order from a neighbour who wanted to give it as a gift to her brother.  She had a lot of old and new pictures as keepsakes for her brother's life.
I immediately thought that the Meg's Garden Correspondence collection would be perfect to document all these treasured memories from the past and present.

The first and main canvas measures 12" x 12", featuring the most recent pictures of the man's life.

Large Canvas

I used a mixture of papers from both the Correspondence and Gentleman collections, many embellishments available on the Meg's Garden website as well as lots of 2Crafty chipboard.
All papers were distressed and misted with various color inks to give the canvases a more aged look.

The big Moonlight fabric flower seen above was a perfect focal point for the flower cluster
on the large canvas as it is quite large itself, measuring at 11cm diameter.
I gave it a more antique look by dabbing brown ink on it followed by white paint.
The Puffy Paper Flowers were just as perfect, being that they're very thick and ideal for giving added dimension and relief to such a project.

Adding a strip of Burlap Trim covered by the Watchband Silver Trim
gave just the right amount of antique and at the same time pizzazz to my canvases.

You can see here a close-up of the mixed media techniques I used on my canvas.  I started off adding layers of the beautiful Meg's Garden papers.  I then used a stencil with molding paste to add texture and then went crazy with the mists and white paint for whitewashing.  Then I topped everything off with this 2Crafty title and key which I rusted up a bit with gesso and mists.

More close-ups of the details...

And finally a sideways look to show you the depth of the canvas.

Each side canvas I used to document the earlier memories and older pictures
measure 15" x 6" approximately and were less deep.

Small Canvas 1

Small Canvas 2

I added some several family-themed quotes that I already had in my stash.
Below it is another beautiful 2Crafty piece.

I also added a few pieces of the Round Silver Diamante Trim with a brown gem inside each centre.

Below you see a chipboard keyhole that I covered with gesso,
glimmer mists and paint to give it an old rusted look.

Wanting to keep the same look constant across the 3 canvases, I put smaller flower clusters on each smaller canvas along with butterflies from the Butterflies Collage Art ATC Paper.

One last look at some precious childhood memories...

My neighbour was very happy with the finished result
and I dare say that I made her shed a few tears.
She couldn't believe the finite details and the amount of
beautiful flowers and products used.

I told her that it was thanks to some amazing Design Teams
which I am blessed to be part of.

Magic Happens (SATW September Mood Board)

When I saw this magical Mood Board from the very nice and talented Amy Voorthuis
on the Scrap Around the World blog this month, I couldn't pass up the inspiration!

I have loved all the Mood Boards from Scrap Around the World since its debut more than a year ago,
but I have to say that this one is my favourite of them all!

FAIRIES!

They're like muses... bringing creativity, inspiration and magic
to the people who choose to believe in them!

This picture is of the very pretty Celeste who's looking for... what?  Well, a fairy friend, I imagine. :)

I have decided upon the Enchanted Garden collection by Kaisercraft as my paper.
It came with this quote and little fairy
that couldn't have been more perfect for the theme and title of my layout

I cut off the wings of a 2Crafty Chipboard butterfly and gave them to the fairy.

All chipboard pieces used on my layout come from 2Crafty, including this very intricately designed window which I covered with various shades of distress stains.

I did the same to the Sammi's Swirl which I cut in 2 and added above and below my picture,
tucked behind some beautiful flowers.

I added some chain links inspired by the grunge heart of the Mood Board
and gave them a rusty look by adding gesso and layers of red, orange, pink and brown inks.
Mixing grunge with shabby chic, I suspended some cute mini butterflies on the metal chains.

I also used strings of pearls amid the chains.

I am so grateful for Amy's Mood Board
as I love how this layout turned out.

Thank you for being my muse/fairy this month, Amy!

The current stash challenge at Scrap Our Stash has gone live on the SOS blog on September 1st

&
(3) or more items from list B:
File Folder

Pencil or pen
Paper Clip
Alphas
Numbers
Apple
Book
Ruler
Chalkboard embellishment

To learn more about this challenge
and our wonderful monthly sponsor, My Kreative Pursuits

Now here's my layout:

I will admit, this one was a real challenge. I had to dig really deep
for an school picture of mine and found this one. 1984! That was a long time ago!
I wanted to keep this layout bright and colorful, reminiscent of childhood in the 80's, so I chose to use papers, including the dictionary pattern (from list A), of the Simple Stories' Summer Fresh collection and several fun embellishments from my stash.

From list B provided, I used alphas, numbers, a paperclip, an apple, a notebook and a pencil.

I have had these school-themed dimensional stickers for years
and was very happy for the chance to use them finally.

The fun chipboard number boarder comes from 2Crafty.

I got the cork stickers, including the trendy mustache and these cool glasses, at my local Dollarstore.
What a great find!

Check out the Scrap Our Stash blog every day for more DT inspiration
and link up your project before September 29th.

My Creative Scrapbook DT Reveal - Part 3

I promised you some extras using the September Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook
and here they are!

Let's start with these notebooks I made for my nieces.

A couple days after receiving the kit, I was browsing the aisles in my local Dollarstore
when I saw these cute little gold glitter notebooks and I just knew that they'd go perfectly with this kit.

I layered some paper, chipboard, stickers and die-cuts on each notebook
to create a different fun design for each of the girls.

Next, I created a simple yet elegant tag.

And finally, I had enough leftovers to make a card using this beautiful piece from the MME Mixed Bag.

I adorned it with one of the beautiful Prima roses and
added some tiny flowers and pearls from my stash to create a pretty flower cluster.

Now you've seen all I was able to create with the September Main kit.

If you were inspired by my projects, then I urge you to subscribe
to My Creative Scrapbook kit club right now to receive these fabulous kits every month.

Next month, I'll be showcasing 2 MCS kits so I hope you will join me again then.
