Happiness in Little Things

I know, i know, i have been neglecting my blog already after only a couple weeks of starting it!  Well, let me tell you that it has not been in vain.  I have been fairly productive lately and i will be able to post my new layouts soon, but they still need a bit of fine tuning.  In the meantime, i'm leaving you with these.  Like with most of my past layouts, i never made it a must to indicate which brand of paper or embellishments i used so there is not much i can say regarding those.  I hope you still enjoy.  Mostly, i want to show that you can scrapbook ANY picture.  You can find inspiration in all the little things that make you happy!

Berry-licious Treat
Mmm... strawberry shortcake!  Who wouldn't be inspired by this?

Chipmunk
When i took those pictures, i knew i had to use them on a layout.

Humming Bird
These pictures are stunning, don't you agree?  They were taken by a co-worker of mine and she was more than happy to let me scrapbook them.  So i cannot take credit for the pictures OR the layout for that matter, as it is another one of the fabulous designs at my local store Scrapbook Craze.  I barely changed a thing as it was already perfect. Kudos to Wanda! To add to the theme of the pictures, i added the humming bird which i cut with the Cricut cartridge Lyrical Letters.

Snow, snow, go away!

Before i start, i must confess now that i've still yet to take good quality pictures of all my layouts so what i can share with you here is limited.  It's a long project that i hope to have finished in a few weeks, and that's not counting finally completing all the unfinished layouts that are stacked up in my scraproom! Also, to get myself started with this blog, i am mostly posting layouts i've done in the past, but i am constantly working on new ones and will make sure to post them as i go along. I just wish i could make scrapbooking my full-time job!

But on to the subject at hand... as you can guess, snow is not my favorite thing!  And like a cruel joke from Mother Nature, we were just granted quite a few inches of it last night.  We were literally snowed in this morning and Yves had to shovel us out of our apartment.  Aww... thank god for Yves!!!  But what else to expect when you live in eastern Canada, right?  The one good thing about snow though is that it makes for awesome scrapbooking layouts!  So here are a few snow-inspired layouts i've made throughout the years...

Snow Day
This layout is one of the first layouts i made, back during my 'black background days'- haha  Every layout i did back then was done using 2 pages of black cardstock as background as we were taught how to do at a store i went to at the time.  It did look nice, but i quickly grew tired of it.  Needless to say, it's been so long that i don't remember what paper or embellishments i used on this one.  The dog on the pictures is my beloved late Buffy whom i had for 9 years and who passed away in 2007.  I still miss her terribly and seeing her still brightens up my day, so much that i have pictures of her in my cubicle at work.

A Sweet Time
Aww... March with the smell of Spring in the air and the sweet taste of maple syrup on the lips! I can't wait!  I really like the colour combination on this layout.  It reminds me a bit of the 'Daddy's Hands' layout in a 2nd post which i entered in the KaiserCraft contest.  Again, i have no idea what paper i used here. The snowflakes and swirls are chipboard that i painted with Tim Holtz' Adirondack paint dabbers.

 Cold Hands, Warm Hearts
Awww, beautiful, beautiful BoBunny Snowy Serenade which i think is pretty much sold out now, unfortunately. I used a Martha Stewart punch on the picture borders, to which i can't find the name for the life of me, even if i am an expert 'googler'. (If any of you know, please comment! I have to start better documenting what i own and what i use.)

Snowflakes
Used here is again the BoBunny Snowy Serenade collection, as well as the stickers in that collection. This layout was inspired by 2 separate layouts my friend Krista found online and I scraplifted the finished project from her.

And on that note, HAPPY WINTER to all 7 of my followers (and hopefully, all the rest who will soon join them - hehehe)!

"Cherish"

I am in a rush right now as i have to be at work in less than an hour, but since my last post was more than a couple days ago, i just have to take the time! Work will just have to wait! hehehe  It will be a short one though, sharing with you layouts of Yves and I, done in the past months.  If you want any more details on paper, embellishments, techniques i used, please feel free to leave a comment.

Cherish
This layout was inspired by the designers at Scrapbook Craze (i wish they had a website that i could link). The paper is from the BasicGrey's Capella collection.

Picture Perfect
This layout (also inspired by the Scrapbook Craze talented designers) was done using one of my favorite paper collections of all time, BoBunny's Mama-razzi. Chipboard embellishments are from the same collection.

Remember & Cherish
I seem to use the word 'cherish' in a lot of layouts - hehehe
Again, Scrapbook Craze inspired layout... and the collection used here is KaiserCraft's Le Chateau.  Pictures were taken in Quebec city during Yves and i's first year of dating which was in 2006.

Christmas Past

It's almost impossible to believe that another Christmas has come and gone!  It's always a very creative time for scrapbookers as there are so many nice Christmas paper collections out there, so many cards to do, and projects aplenty. My head is already filled with ideas for next year!  Here are a few projects i've done this Christmas past.

 Card #1
The snowflake was cut using the Cricut cartridge Winter Woodland.

Card #2
I scraplifted this design off the web, but unfortunately cannot remember where.
The border punch used is Martha Stewart's Doily Lace punch.

Card #2
A lot of people who have seen this card all asked the same question:
"Where did you get the stamp?! And how in the heck did you color it in so well???"
It's not a stamp... it's a sticker already colored that i had bought a few years ago
and which i finally put to good use.

Card #4
I was so excited when i found these packs of 20 glittery plastic snowflakes at Dollarama!
The paper comes from BoBunny Midnight Frost collection.
I adore it and will be sure to make a few layouts with it this winter!

Peace
This layout was inspired by the designers at the Scrapbook Craze store. I decided to use the BasicGrey Jovial collection and the beautiful lamp-post and fence come from The Dusty Attic. I dream of someday owning every single piece of laser-cut chipboard they have! As you can see, i have yet to find the perfect pictures for the layout...
Advent Calendar
I had so much fun doing this Advent Calendar from KaiserCraft for my nieces.
I'm hoping they'll have as much fun using it to count down the days until Christmas for years to come!

Cards Galore

Another day, another post!  Blogging is easy so far.  I'm not sure how long i'll keep this momentum though - hehehe  Eventually, i will have to set myself a routine.  I'm thinking i should at least do 2 posts weekly.  Or maybe it's better to go with the flow and post as i go?  I can't wait to get more of a following (a big WELCOME to my first 2 official followers!!!) so then i won't feel like i'm talking to myself too much.

So enough rambling and let's get on to business and to the subject of my post.  Like most other scrapbookers, aside from layouts, i really enjoy making homemade cards.  Here are a few i made recently...

Love is in the air

Being exactly one month away from Valentine's Day, why not talk 'love'?  Yes, for a little more than 5 years now, i have been the most blessed woman in the world by having met Yves.  He is the one person who accepts me as i am, with all my eccentricities, neuroses and addictions (scrapbooking being #1 on the list).  Here are some of the many layouts i've done to honour our relationship.  I'm sorry if i don't list paper, supplies, techniques, inspirations used for all of these as i can only rely on my memory.  Indicating that kind of information was something i never thought of doing before i had a blog, but i will make sure to put it into practice for any future layout i make.

Loving You
This layout was inspired by the designers at Scrapbook Craze, a great local store where i buy most of my supplies and get a lot of ideas and techniques.

Kindred Spirits & Sushi
Sushi is one of Yves' favorite food and he's one of my favorite persons so i was sure it would make for a great layout.

Whooo Loves You
This layout was done using My Mind's Eye So Sophie collection which is SO lovely!

You & Me
The paper used here is the wonderful BasicGrey Origins

You Stole My Heart
This layout features BoBunny's Love Bandit collection.
The original idea for this layout was scraplifted from
Pretty Paper Book to which i added my own personal touch.

Wishing you all lots of love!!! <3

Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch - January #1

I have wanted to start a blog now for a while, but was always a bit reluctant as i thought i might not keep it regularly updated because, frankly, i'm the Queen of Procrastination.  What finally made me decide to take the plunge was visiting all the wonderful scrapbooking blogs on the web, including one of my favorites at Kaisercraft which hosts contests and challenges every month for its followers.  This is actually the first scrap contest i've entered since i took up this hobby... and it probably will not be my last. (Oh, and just a little secret between you and me: one of my resolution for 2011 is to get a layout published for the first time! Wish me luck!!!)

Daddy's Hands

This layout was done using mostly the Kaisercraft Up, Up & Away collection and Alpha Chipboard #1.  I have to say that it has become my newest favorite layout (ok, i admit, i change favorites all the time - hehe).  I adore the earth tones (so pleasing to the eye) and i truly enjoyed making the pinwheels (so easy to do).  And for those who don't know me yet and who might wonder, no, the beautiful little girls on the pictures are not mine. (I have not been blessed with that miracle yet.)  Meet my nieces, soon-to-be-6 Ella & just-turned-4 Daphne with their dad, my brother Christian.  Needless to say, you'll soon notice that Ella & Daphne are two of my favorite scrapbooking Muses!

Well, i hope you've enjoyed my first official post.  Wish me luck on my first contest participation.  I'll keep you posted (pun intended) on the outcome.

Blog Newbie

Wow!  My very first blogpost!  I'm so excited, i'm at a loss for words.  How ironic!  hehe  Keep visiting and i'll try to get better at this.  :)
